Another relatively modern trend has been the destruction of small businesses as America seems to be losing its entrepreneurial edge, a huge driver of not only innovation but also employment growth. Fewer new businesses were created in the last five years in the US than any period since at least 1980, according to a new analysis by the Economic Innovation Group. Additionally, the business creation that is occurring is being concentrated in ever fewer locations primarily big cities along the coasts, Dallas and Chicago. Another significant change is that they are increasingly focused on technology related matters.
