The growing realization that globalization while responsible for dramatically increasing trade volumes and lifting 100’s of millions of people worldwide out of hunger and poverty over the last 30-odd years. Has placed a huge burden on the developed world’s working and middle classes as they have been forced to compete with their developing county counterparts. Which brings us full circle to debt saturation and lack of earned income which in turn has produced record income and wealth inequality in the US and other developed nations. No leader is going to magically ride to the rescue and fix these issues overnight as nothing short of a new dominant economic paradigm will be required to replace what is now a very tired and very broken status quo built around debt based growth. Cheap energy drives empires and rapid economic expansion, the British did it with coal, America did it with oil. The first country to crack the cheap alternative energy riddle will be the next dominate driving global force if history is any guide.
